As an experienced network marketer, I often meet plenty of people who have interesting stories and come from interesting places. From all corners of the country, I’ve talked to people who live in the midst of metropolitan madness, and people who’ve lived hundreds of miles away from their nearest town.

So when I had a marketer from Ghana sign up for my network marketing business-building opportunity, I knew I had to learn more about him and his country!

You see, network marketing is about connecting with others as much as it’s about making money (and a lot of it!). You already know that forming relationships is at the heart of a successful online business. We’re talking about forming relationships with customers (hello, social networking!), forming connections with other entrepreneurs and even our competitors, and reaching out to those past our current networks.

Take me, for example. When my network marketer from Ghana joined up with my business opportunity, I took the time to form a relationship with him to discover more about who is he and where he comes from. I learned tons of things I wouldn’t have otherwise known about his country; for example, did you know that in Ghana, they don’t use credit cards? Instead, they use pre-paid cards to make any online transactions. My new network marketer told me it’s a great way for them to control their debt and ensure they don’t overspend (I definitely think it’s a lesson we can take home here in America!).

Network marketing affords us opportunities to broaden our horizons past what we already know. Without network marketing, I would only know what’s limited to my hometown – and as I live in a town with only 287 people, it’s pretty limited!

So what’s the lesson to take away here? It’s simple: never underestimate the fascinating things you can learn with network marketing. Expanding your online business will certainly make you money; however, it will also broaden your horizons in a way you never thought possible.

When it comes to Facebook, there have been plenty of changes that have caused rankle within the fan base. But nothing compares to the uproar that has started thanks to Facebook Timeline.

Want to know just how angry some people are? Take a look at this comment:

“I do not want to be forced into the new Timeline Facebook page!! It sucks!! I can not find anything when I go onto other people’s page. This should not be shoved down our throats, we should have the option of having or not having. Why do you have to keep changing it? What is wrong with the way it is? I for one do not want the new look! If you agree re-post this. It seems to be the only way they listen to us!! ****Re-posting as many times as possible”

As you can see, many people aren’t exactly thrilled by the prospect of Facebook’s new Timeline!

If you haven’t heard of Timeline before, then get ready to learn about a major change that many are declaring to be the destruction of Facebook – and whether they’re right.

What is Timeline?

At first glance, Facebook’s new Timeline app seems like an interesting proposition. The idea behind Timeline is that it allows the things that define you and your life to be front and center on your Facebook profile. Additionally, Timeline shows everything that’s ever been posted on your Wall from beginning and middle to the end. Users can highlight the most memorable posts and life events so readers can get a quick glimpse of who you are. There’s a special section devoted to classifying which apps you use. Finally, you can control who sees your timeline.

Why is Timeline Such a Big Deal?

Like with all changes that come along with Facebook, Timeline is causing such a big deal because it involves a major change to the appearance of the profile. Of course, it can’t hurt that Facebook makes major changes to pages almost every year – and people just don’t like change.

Will Timeline Be the Destruction of Facebook?

So when it comes down to it, will Timeline be the destruction of Facebook?

In a word, no.

Let’s face it: every time Facebook makes a major change, people get up in arms and declare that they’ll never use Facebook again. But sure enough, they get used to the major changes to the point that they cling to it when Facebook starts to change its appearance all over again. I strongly suspect that while many will complain about the new changes, the rancor will eventually die down – and we’ll come to accept Facebook Timeline as the status quo.

As an online entrepreneur, you know that getting your Facebook fans to interact with your brand can be a rather difficult process. Now, to make matters even worse for online marketers, Facebook has introduced their latest “innovation”, EdgeRank – and it’s making marketers want to throw up their hands in disgust.

If you’ve never heard of EdgeRank, here’s the scoop: EdgeRank uses a pretty basic formula to determine which users should be exposed to certain status updates. EdgeRank is determined according to the affinity between you and a user (your relationship), the interactions (“likes” and comments) and time.

Let’s say you interact with your friend on Facebook almost daily – according to EdgeRank, you’ll always be able to see their status updates in your NewsFeed, because they assume that information will be important to you. If, however, you haven’t posted on a friend’s wall since 2005, you won’t see any of their status updates in your NewsFeed.

So what does this mean for online marketers? Simple: if Facebook deems your Fan Page’s updates irrelevant to your Facebook fans, they won’t see your updates in their NewsFeeds.

That is just unacceptable.

So how can you beat Facebook Edge Rank at its own game?

Simple: use these easy tips!

Be sure to post status updates that encourage interaction. While thought-provoking posts are always good, I recommend using surveys to get your Facebook fans going. People love expressing their opinions, and a survey is a great way to tap into that desire.

Post plenty of photos and videos to improve your Edge Rank.

Post links to articles, videos and other websites that prompt your fans to take action. Always let your fans know why your posting the link, and encourage them to share their opinions on the article, video or website in your comments section.

Finding a better balance
‘Work smart, not hard’ is an age-old adage. Sure, hard work can surely get you ahead in your job, but that doesn’t mean that one must be completely immersed in long working hours with little efficiency. It would be better to look for smart ways of more efficient and effective work. It so happens that in several cases, people put in long hours of work but cannot get the fruits of their labor or any form of recognition. All they do is neglect other more important areas of your life. You might not be eating properly and not exercising or looking after your health. This calls for a better balance of work and play.
Tips for working smart
One thing you could consider while trying to work smart is getting help from others. This could be in the form of physicial, mental or emotional support. You could get someone to do your housework for you, so that you could put in more effective hours of work by focusing better even though it may involve lesser hours of work. You could even delegate tasks related to lesser skills to someone else.

Try to take adequate rest. This will translate into better quality of work that you can do in a shorter amount of time. Sleep alone is not enough, as rest also means relaxing and indulging in hobbies that you enjoy. This will ensure that you are in the best form while working and will be fully charged to give off your best.
Do your tasks on a priority basis by dealing with the more urgent ones on a priority basis. This is a more focused and smart approach to work. You could time it in such a way that the more difficult work can be tackled during the early hours of the morning when you are fresh and invigorated. You will see that following the above tips will enable greater progress with less hard work.

There are many prospecting tips which will help you to generate increased leads for the sales of your product or service. By prospecting, you can be well on your way to prosperity, as you will be able to attract more potential customers whom you can contact. It is not enough if a business is able to clinch a few successful deals. It is also important to generate a continuous flow of sales leads. This will enable you to increase the size of your business and reach higher targets.

One of the simple tips for prospecting is by using referrals and hot leads. You can add more people through online prospecting as well. This has to be a consistent process and can be done very simply by just setting up a great online presentation. The next thing to do is to start getting people to watch it. The social media would be a great place to start online prospecting. For instance, you could start with Facebook. You can target like-minded people and send them a friend request. This can only be done by proper selection after reading their profile and finding out some common ground.
You can then build the relationship and take it to the next step. When you get the right opening, you could ask them to consider knowing more about your prospecting resources, business, service etc. You can also use online prospecting through list builders and build a rapport with you prospective customers. You can use a list builder, such as Listjoe and use it for sending emails. Readers will start getting an interest in your content and you can build up trust with these future prospects. In future, these people could turn into leads. This can be a surefire way of sending your business marketing off the ground through networking techniques of prospecting. You can get new leads and they might open their wallets for your product or service, thereby making you more prosperous.
